About Henry Brooks
Born about 1855, Henry Jermyn Brooks made a successful living as a painter of portraits, genre scenes and sporting art. He began exhibiting at the Royal Academy and at the New Gallery in 1884 and continued to show his work until 1891. His pictures of scenes from the playing fields of the great English public schools, including Charterhouse, Eton and Winchester, are among his best known works. |
